Early History of Conversational Hypnosis:

Also known as covert hypnosis, this technique was originally kept secret. Only trained medical professionals were allowed to learn this technique. It was kept a secret because of the immense power it possessed. The technique is popularized by Dr Milton Erickson, a psychiatrist who specialized in medical hypnosis, family therapy, and Neuro Linguistic Programming. Dr. Erickson has developed the techniques for eliciting desirable actions from the subjects. To this day, the topic is not fully understood. Anyone taking up  Conversational Hypnosis  should be ready to face controversies, and distractions.

How  Conversational Hypnosis Works:

You have finished your meals at the restaurant and the waiter asks: “would you like an ice cream or a special fruit salad?” Is there anything extra ordinary about this question? You might think there isn’t. Even the waiter doesn’t know he or she is using one of the most powerful psychological technique.

That question of ice cream versus fruit salad is a simple example of  Conversational Hypnosis.  By presenting you with two choices, you are subtly forced to order either of the items. It works on subconscious level. You may temporarily forget you have had enough lunch and you don’t need either ice cream or salad. Well,   Conversational Hypnosis  does much more than selling a scoop of ice cream.

A well trained hypnotist, counsellor or medical professional can give instructions straight to the minds of his/her subjects. The hypnotized persons will have no idea they have been hypnotized. The hypnotist gives subtle suggestions and instructions for the hypnotized person to follow. The hypnotized person thinks it is his/her idea on with he/she acts. The truth is, the hypnotist has instructed the person to act in particular manner.

Practical Examples of  Conversational Hypnosis:

Therapists and counsellors talking persons out of substance abuse is a very good example of positive use of this power. At first, the professional will win the trust and confidence of the person. It looks like a regular conversation for the hypnotized person and others around. However, the professional implants suggestions directly to the subconscious mind of the person.

Salespeople are other group of people using   Conversational Hypnosis.  Experience teaches them how best to talk to customers. They also get training on all kinds of sales techniques. The underlying principles are that of  Conversational Hypnosis.  Very good car salespersons are good at this technique. Most of them use this technique without their conscious knowledge.
